We sell 3 types of second-hand books:
-
s/h (second-hand books: former private ownership);
-
ex lib (ex library: former library books). These books
usually have a stamp of a library, stamp 'sold' or 'withdrawn' and some
other signs of a library's ownership;
-
ex council
(almost same as ex library, but these books have less
stamps and usually are in better condition than ex library
books).
We try to describe objectively the state of a book, but bear in
mind that different people have different standards of 'good or poor
condition'. Here are our grades of the condition of a book:
| 1. mint |
the book is in perfect condition, almost impossible to
tell from a new copy; |
| 2. very good |
the book shows very little evidence of previous ownership; |
| 3. good |
the book is in good condition, though it's obvious that
it's second-hand; |
| 4. fair |
fair is fair: somewhere between good and poor,
acceptable reading copy; |
| 5. poor |
the book is in bad condition, had several previous
readers
or just one but a very untidy one. |
Very often we use semi-grades, like 'good to fair' or 'fair to poor' to give
more exact feel of a book. If you would like more details on a particular
book, please e-mail us stating the book's
Item ID.
We describe all major defaults, please always take in
consideration a book's
Condition when ordering. Not so major damages are reflected in a general condition grade and, of
course, in the price. All images of book covers are actual scans so some defects
are visible on its picture. |
